Southern Cape Branch
The Southern Cape Branch of the SAVA has been growing for the last few years. The branch covers the practices in the following area: Riversdale in the west, Plettenberg Bay in the east, and Oudtshoorn / De Rust in the north.
The South Cape branch is fairly active when it comes to activities. We regularly hold continuing professional development meetings, as well as events organised by pet food companies. We also aim to regularly send our support staff in practices on courses for training.
A very successful mini-congress is held annually, which is attended, among others, by the President of the SAVV.
Our members are actively involved in various organisations within the profession, such as the SAVR, RuVASA, SAEVA, the Wildlife Group, and more. In addition, some members are also involved in various animal welfare organisations such as the SPCA and the PDSA. However, the veterinarians in the South Cape are not just workhorses – we live in the most beautiful part of our country! Hobbies include golf, cycling, scuba diving, vintage cars, endurance horse riding, photography, and flower growing, to name a few. We try to support one another wherever possible and focus on maintaining a well-balanced life.
We as a branch aim to improve the image of the veterinary profession to the general public; to improve our relationship among ourselves and to maintain and improve good communication with the SAVA and SAVC.
